When you think of protein, you may a bodybuilder at the gym focusing on ripping out his already enlarged arms and drinking his protein shake when he is done. The value of protein to your body is more than that. It is an important component to the cells of your body, hair, nails, and hormones. Protein is one of the primary building blocks to your bones, muscles, skin, and blood. Providing your body with a high enough protein intake each day will help to contribute to your overall health. Here is a listing of what your daily protein intake should be.

  • Teenage boys to active men should receive 3 daily servings of protein equaling 7 ounces.
  • Children 2-6, women, and elderly should receive 2 daily servings of protein equaling 5 ounces.
  • Older children, teen girls, active women, and most men should receive 2 daily servings of protein equaling 6 ounces.
