Summary of what your shop offers:
A variety of items that could be given as a gift. Currently I have a lot of baby items and a few bags. I try to add new items every few days.
How long have you been practicing your craft?
For at least 10 years.
Have you had any formal training in it? Where did you learn your skills?
I learned from my mom. She made all mine and my brothers costumes growing up. I have taken a couple of classes as well.
What made you decide to start an Etsy shop?
I have been told by multiple people over the years that should sell my baby blankets. I got a nice sewing machine for Christmas and it just seemed like a good time to start.
What makes your Etsy shop stand out from all the others out there?
I have noticed a lot of shops tend to specialize in a particular type or group of items. I am planning on carry a variety of items that can be gift to a range of people for various occasions, or purchased for personal use.
What do you find to be the most fun and rewarding about having your own shop?
It’s feeling really good to have someone who is either related to me or getting an item from me a present tell me that they like my stuff.
What does customer service mean to you?
Doing custom orders and getting items shipped out fast.
Where do you find your motivation and inspiration when sales are slow?
I enjoy sewing and I figure it is a good time to start making stock for the Christmas season.
What helps to inspire you when creating?
I love to walk around the fabric store and find fabric that jumps out and says buy me.
Where do you see your Etsy shop in a year? Or where would you like to see it?
Hopefully having at least 5-6 sales a month.
What words of wisdom do you have for readers who are considering opening a shop on Etsy to sell their own handmade creations?
I would try not to get discouraged if the sales are slow at first. I would also network on Facebook and in the Etsy forums. I post pictures of the majority of my items on my Facebook page before I list them on Etsy. My first few sales were actually from people who saw an item them liked on my Facebook page and messaged me about purchasing it.
Which item in your shop is your favorite?
The flower print & teal reversible bag. I loved this bag so much I actually purchased fabric and made myself one.
