Various styles of photography, from nature and landscape to portrait and journalistic styles.
How long have you been practicing your craft?
I studied photography in school over 20 years ago but slowed down for a few years until the birth of my son 9 years ago urged me to pick up the camera again.
Have you had any formal training in it? Where did you learn your skills?
I studied photography at school using film and processing and printing in the darkroom, nowadays I use photoshop in my day job so I’ve just swapped the chemicals for a digital darkroom.
What made you decide to start an Etsy shop?
I have always had such a positive reception to my work that I decided it was time to get it out to more people than just my family and friends.
What makes your Etsy shop stand out from all the others out there?
I don’t rely heavily on post processing, I’m a bit old school in that I don’t like to rely on effects or filters to make the shot. Composition and getting it right in the camera is more important to me which is becoming more unusual in the day and age of Instagram.
What do you find to be the most fun and rewarding about having your own shop?
The excitement of a visitor enjoying my work and hopefully soon the excitement of my first sale!
What does customer service mean to you?
I worked in the service industry for years and understand the importance of looking after your customer. I like to be able make shopping and purchasing an enjoyable experience.
Where do you find your motivation and inspiration when sales are slow?
The knowledge that tomorrow is another day!
What helps to inspire you when creating?
the thrill of capturing that perfect moment in time.
Where do you see your Etsy shop in a year? Or where would you like to see it?
I would like to be busy enough to make a small profit and getting daily sales.
What words of wisdom do you have for readers who are considering opening a shop on Etsy to sell their own handmade creations?
Don’t loose faith and keep doing what you love, someone out there will find your shop and love it too!

Deck – it was taken on a stormy day by the ocean and I love being by the sea. This shot perfectly captures that day.
