What is your Etsy shop name?
Dee Dub Designs.

Where are you located?
Summer Hill, NSW

Summary of what your shop offers:
Dee Dub offers personalised stationary, from Children’s invitations for birthdays and Christenings and Wedding stationary also. Our goal is to make it easy for our clients to have beautiful invitations with out the stress and fuss of doing it themselves.

How long have you been practicing your craft?
My husband and I work together, he has been in the Graphic Art world since he finished university back in 2003. I have been in the design world since he and I met back in 2006.

Have you had any formal training in it? Where did you learn your skills?
Although my husband has a uni degree being him, I have had not “formal” training. Me being a photographer helps with my creative eye. I come up with all the ideas block out the designs and he comes along and puts the finishing touched on it. It really is a team effort. No design is in our shop unless we are both proud of it.

What made you decide to start an Etsy shop?
I have always enjoyed creating things and I thought “why not”. Its an experience its also a challenge, you put yourself out there for people to judge you and your designs. To be honest I wanted to see what the world thought of our work.

What makes your Etsy shop stand out from all the others out there?
At Dee Dub we have real world experience in both marketing and design and feel that allows us to add an extra level of polish and professionalism to our designs as well as enabling us to understand better what people are looking for in a design.

What do you find to be the most fun and rewarding about having your own shop?
Our shop is only new, only a baby. We haven’t had made a sale yet but that’s all part of the excitement. Who knows what will be the first design to go. We have bets on that at the moment 😛

What does customer service mean to you?
I’m a country girl, I grew up in an area where everyone knew you and said hello in the street. Where a shop assistant would help you even if you weren’t going to buy anything. Customer service is VERY important to me. I want to be known for our designs as well as how we treat our customers.

Where do you find your motivation and inspiration when sales are slow?
Even when nothing is being sold and things are slow we still enjoy coming up with new ideas and ways to make our designs come to life.

What helps to inspire you when creating?
My little 13 month old baby girl. She is such a cheeky little thing. I love to make things that I think she would love.

Where do you see your Etsy shop in a year? Or where would you like to see it?
I would love to have a client base that would become regulars. Its all about the service in our shop, we want people to love the product, love the service and love to come back.

What words of wisdom do you have for readers who are considering opening a shop on Etsy to sell their own handmade creations?
Be patient. I was expecting sales to start right away. After speaking to other Etsy newbies I knew that I had to rethink my expectations. It’s all about getting the shop stocked, being proud of your product, and then knowing that the lack of sales has nothing to do with your brand or the quality of your work but the internet shopping market is a hard cookie to crumble.

Which item in your shop is your favorite?
I adore the vintage Save the Date. Makes me wish I had something like that for my wedding.

Do you have a current promotion you would like to share?
We don’t have a current sale or promotions – what we do is we try and offer a great product that is cost effective for everyone to enjoy.
